Tiver's Story

Nov. 1996 - Feb. 7, 2011

So there was this horse show and a local dog rescue shelter had brought some dogs that were ready for their forever homes. And there was this young black dog with the biggest triangular ears you can imagine. We brought her home a few weeks later; she was supposed to be our dog. I believe there is a reason why we have certain animals and Tiver often reminded us to practice patience, patience, patience, and understanding. She was the most stubborn and strong-willed dog but also the cutest and most loyal little witch. She often made us want to scream and roll our eyes but she also made us laugh a lot and shake our heads at her antics.

She got along with all dogs as long as they understood that SHE was the queen and the seas parted for her. Strangers were not her favorite thing but her own people she adored and obeyed. Mostly. She was the kitties' best friend; they could climb on her back and bite her ears and she would patiently endure the onslaught without ever even looking at them sideways.

Tiver was never sick in her entire life, the vet barely even knew her, but she finally succumbed to severe arthritis at 14 years and 3 months of age. It was pure willpower and determination that kept her going so long despite all the pain. Life is definitely quieter without this silly old girl but we do miss her every day.
